Awareness Program on GATE Examination 2025 (Online Mode) – 23.09.2024
The Department of Civil Engineering in association with Placement Cell of AAA College of Engineering Technology, Sivakasi jointly organized “Awareness Program on GATE Examination 2025” in online mode on 23.09.2024 at Sir Isaac Newton Hall, Cambridge block.
Dr.S.Krishnapriya, Professor and Head, Department of Civil Engineering welcomed the Chief Guest. The resource person Mr,S.Manimohan Trinth, ACE Engineering Academy, Hyderabad addressed the gathering. He elaborated on the importance of attempting GATE examination, particularly for Civil Engineering students. The program was interactive with students clearing their doubts on GATE examination. All the second, third and fourth year Civil Engineering students attended the program. This event came to an end with vote of thanks proposed by Mr.T.Sriram, fourth year student of Civil Engineering.
Civil Engineering Students Association Inauguration and Guest Lecture – 13.09.2024
The Department of Civil Engineering of AAA College of Engineering & Technology, Sivakasi inaugurated the Civil Engineering Students Association (CESA) & organized Guest lecture on “Precision Soil Sampling: Foundation of Structural Integrity and Engineering Success” on 13th September 2024 at Sir Isaac Newton Hall, Cambridge block.
Dr.S.Krishnapriya, Professor and Head, Department of Civil Engineering welcomed and honoured the Chief Guest. Ms.T.Kalaivani, President of the CESA, introduced the Chief Guest. Mr.S.Keerthipriyan, AP/Civil & Association In-charge introduced the Association Office bearers of CESA for the academic year, 2024-2025. The resource person, Rtn. Er. A. Victor Samson Raj, M.E., Proprietor, Techlead Consultant & Engineers, Madurai addressed the gathering. The resource person gave an overview of the importance of soil sampling and testing before the design and construction of a building. He also shared his experience in handling customers and about the completed projects. The session was very interactive as the resource person asked frequent questions and made students & faculty to answer them. This event came to an end with vote of thanks proposed by Mr.R.Gowtham, Executive Committee Member of the CESA.

Inauguration of Centre of Excellence in Project Management on 20.03.2024
The Centre of Excellence in Project Management was inaugurated by our Honourable Joint Secretary, Respected Principal, Distinguished Chief Guest and the Department of Civil Engineering on 20.03.2024 in the second floor of the Cambridge Block.The ribbon cutting ceremony was followed by technical sessions by the Chief Guest, Mr.P.Ravikumar,Director, M/s.Infinity PMC Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Chennai and Mr.G.Dhanasekar from the same concern.The guests gave an overview of Primavera software, its advantages and applications with the help of a real time project.All the second, third, fourth year B.E. Civil Engineering students and faculty attended the program.
Certificate Course on ‘Modern Techniques of Surveying’ from 01.02.2024
The Department of Civil Engineering organized a certificate course on ‘Modern Techniques of Surveying’ from 01/02/2024 to 05/02/2024 in the Surveying Laboratory. Dr. S. Krishnapriya, HoD/CE inaugurated the Certificate course and addressed the students about importance of Modern Techniques of surveying projects. Mr.K.Kaleeshwaran, Managing Partners, RVS Land Surveyors was the resource person for the course. This certificate course included hands on practices of Total Station, Differential Global Positioning System and Drone surveying. A Total Station course offers a thorough understanding of total station surveying instruments, covering electronic distance measurement (EDM) and theodolite functions. Participants acquire hands-on skills in precise angle and distance measurements, data collection, and spatial analysis, crucial for accurate mapping and construction projects.
A DGPS course provides a comprehensive overview of Differential Global Positioning System technology, emphasizing real-time corrections to enhance GPS accuracy. Participants gain practical insights into utilizing DGPS for precise navigation, mapping, and surveying applications across diverse fields, improving the efficiency and reliability of location-based data collection.
A Drone Surveying course provides comprehensive training on leveraging unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for precise surveying applications. Participants learn drone flight operations, data acquisition techniques, and post-processing methods, enabling them to utilize aerial imagery effectively for mapping, terrain modeling, and survey analysis. Thirty Students from III Year and seven students from IV year B.E. Civil Engineering Department attended the course.
The “Modern Techniques of Surveying” five-day course offers a condensed yet comprehensive exploration of cutting-edge surveying methodologies. Participants delve into advanced technologies such as Total Stations, DGPS, and Drone Surveying, gaining practical insights into their integration for precise data collection, mapping, and spatial analysis in contemporary surveying applications. The course focuses on hands-on training, enabling participants to adeptly apply these modern techniques to enhance accuracy and efficiency in diverse surveying projects.
Value added course on “Design and Development of Autonomous Robot for Civil Engineering” from 29.01.2024
The Department of Civil Engineering and e-Yantra robotics laboratory, AAA College of Engineering and Technology, conducted value added course on “Design and Development of Autonomous Robot for Civil Engineering” for final year Civil Engineering students from 29/01/2024 to 02/02/2024. This training program was conducted at the e-Yantra Robotics Laboratory in AAACET campus. Dr. S. Krishnapriya, HoD/Civil inaugurated the value added course and stressed the importance of Robotics course and its applications in civil engineering projects. Mrs. K. Padmapriya, AP/ECE, was the course instructor. Students were taught about programming of ATMEGA 16 Microcontroller, Embedded C, Digital logic, AVR studio 4.17 and Interfacing of various devices.
Value Added Course on “Smart Building Automation using IoT” from 22.01.2024
The Department of Civil Engineering organized a Value-added course on ‘Smart Building Automation Using IoT’ from 22/01/2024 to 26/01/2024 in Centre of IIOT, Cambridge Block, AAACET. Mr. M. S. Kalyana Sundaram, Assistant Professor/ EEE, was the resource person for the programme. The course was offered to fourth-year B.E. Civil Engineering Department students. At the end of the five days course, the students came to know about the various types of IoT devices which are used in smart buildings to automate work operations, collect data and control temperature. The students understood the applications of IoT in smart buildings, such as facilities management, security, smart irrigation and home automation.

The Department of Civil Engineering conducted an awareness session on ‘My life, my responsibility’, for I year and II year Civil Engineering students on 24.01.2024 from 10 a.m to 12 p.m at Sir Isaac Newton Seminar Hall.The resource person was Dr.Aasha, Psychological Counsellor and Therapist, Zen Counselling & Therapy Center, Madurai.The resource person gave an overview of the issues which would be faced by students and the ways to tackle them.She also interacted with the students.
