The Literary Club and the Department of Civil Engineering jointly organized a FDP on ‘Enhancement of English Proficiency and Communicative Competence’ from 21/07/2023 to 25/07/2023 in Sir Isaac Newton seminar hall, Cambridge Block, AAACET. Mrs.S.Gajalakshmi, Placement Trainer, was the resource person of the faculty development programme. The aim of the FDP was to acquaint the participants with the tools of English communication skills and with the activities that can be used to enhance the language fluency of the faculty. The practical session of translation, sentence completion, vocabulary building, listening & speaking on different contexts and practising grammatical accuracy in sentence making were enhanced through team activities. As per schedule, all the actions planned were executed effectively. Totally, 16 faculty members participated in this programme and enhanced their proficiency.
Certificate Course on ‘Project Planning & Construction Scheduling Using Primavera P6R 20 Software from 08.07.2023
The Department of Civil Engineering organized certificate course on ‘Project Planning & Construction Scheduling Using Primavera P6R 20 Software’ from 08/07/2023, 10/07/2023 to 13/07/2023 in the CAD laboratory, Cambridge Block. Mr.M.Sivasankar, Assistant Professor/Civil and Mr.P.Suresh Kannan Assistant Professor/Civil were the resource persons for the course. Primavera is an enterprise project portfolio management software. It includes project management, scheduling, risk analysis, opportunity management, resource management, collaboration and control capabilities, and integrates with other enterprise software such as Oracle and SAP’s ERP systems. All the Third year and Final Year Civil Engineering students attended the course. This five days program was very useful for students to understand the Primavera P6 EPPM. At the end of the course, students can create EPS, OBS, WBS, and Activities. Also, they can assign resources and Schedule activities.
Certificate Course on ‘Analysis of Structures using STAAD Pro software’ from 02.07.2023
The Department of Civil Engineering organized certificate course on ‘Analysis of Structures using STAAD Pro software’ from 02/07/2023 to 05/07/2023 & 07/07/2023 in the sCAD laboratory, Cambridge Block. Mrs.S.Kayathri, Assistant Professor/Civil and Mrs.G.Saranpriya Assistant Professor/Civil were the resource persons for the course. STAAD Pro Software is widely used in the analysis and design of various structures such as residential buildings, bridges, towers, transportation structures, industrial structures and utility structures. It helps Structural Engineers to automate their tasks by removing the tedious and long procedure of the manual methods. All the third year Civil Engineering students attended the course. This five days program was very useful for students to understand the analysis and design concepts. Students were able to analyze simple beam elements, 2D framed structures, 3D framed structures, multistoryed structure, composite structures and steel structural members at the end of the course.

Guest Lecture on Traffic Survey – 27.12.2022
The Department of Civil Engineering and Science & Humanities jointly organised a Guest Lecture on Traffic Survey for all the first year Civil Engineering students from 3.30 p.m to 4.30 p.m in their classroom on 27.12.2022. Dr. Arun Prasad Raja, Ph.D. (Germany), Managing Director, ABUA Pvt. Ltd., Chennai was the resource person and he explained the procedure for conducting traffic survey for the proposed Textile Park near Mesalur. Mr.M.Thirupathi, AP/S&H coordinated with the resource person.
Certificate Course on ‘Internet of Things using Arduino Programming’ from 27.09.2022 to 29.09.2022
The Department of Civil Engineering in association with Center for IIoT, AAACET conducted a three-day Certificate Course on “Internet of Things using Arduino Programming” for IV year Civil Engineering students from 27.09.2022 to 29.09.2022. Mr. M. S. Kalyana Sundaram, AP/ EEE and Mr. P. Vetrivel, AP / CSE were the course Instructors. Students were given exposure to the basics and important aspects of embedded programming for civil engineering applications. During valedictory session, students thanked the management, Department of Civil Engineering and Centre of IIoT for arranging this course which was very useful for creating innovative projects.
Industrial Visit – Civil 26.09.2022
Our final year Civil Engineering students visited CSIR – Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CECRI), Karaikudi on 26.09.2022 to get exposure on various advanced material testing techniques. It was CECRI – open day and nearly 30000 students from various colleges attended CECRI on that day.This will be useful for the subject ‘Testing of Materials’ which the students are studying in the current semester.

Civil ASSOCIATION INAUGURATION & GUEST LECTURE ON “BASIC VASTHU DESIGN, VERNACULAR ARCHITECTURE & ARCHITECTURAL PLANNING” – 23/09/2022
The Department of Civil Engineering of AAA College of Engineering & Technology, Sivakasi inaugurated the Civil Engineering Students Association (CESA) & organized Guest lecture on “Basic Vasthu Design, Vernacular Architecture & Architectural Planning” on 23rd September 2022 at Isaac Newton Hall, Cambridge block.
Dr. S. Krishnapriya, Professor & Head of Department of Civil Engineering welcomed the Chief Guest and resource person, Ar. G. Tamilmaran, B.Arch. ,AIIA., Chief Architect, Tamilarchitects, Madurai and the gathering. Mr. T. Manikandan, AP/Civil & Association In-charge introduced the Association Office bearers for the academic year 2022-2023. The resource person gave detailed introduction about basic vasthu design and functional planning. He gave insight into innovative construction technologies such as vernacular architecture, filler slab & rat trap brick bond. He also shared his experience in handling customers and about the completed projects. The session was very interactive as the resource person asked frequent questions and made students & faculty to answer them. This event came to an end with vote of thanks proposed by the Association Secretary.
Guest lecture on “Importance and necessity of getting training of Computer Application of Structural Engineering Analysis & Design Software” – 20.05.2022
The Department of Civil Engineering organized a Guest Lecture on “Importance and necessity of getting training of Computer Application of Structural Engineering Analysis & Design Software under the guidance of Professional Structural Engineer who is well versed in using such software” on 20/05/2022 (Friday) at 11.00 am in the Sir Isaac Newton Seminar Hall, Cambridge Block, II floor. Prof. P.Rajayogan, President, ASCE India Section was the resource person for the Guest lecture. All Faculty members and students from I Year, II year, III year & IV Year B.E. Civil Engineering attended the program.
The Guest lecture motivated the students to get training of Staad Pro software from a Professional Structural Engineer as it would help them in checking the accuracy of results. The resource person illustrated various real time problems and demonstrated the analysis of moving loads. The resource person also highlighted the various opportunities available for Civil Engineers in India and Abroad and the art of overcoming the challenges faced during execution of work. The participants attended the guest lecture with full interest and cleared their doubts during the question and answer session. This Guest lecture came to an end with participants sharing their feedback.
