The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a One Day National Level Technical Symposium ‘AMPHEROZ’24’ on 06.03.2024. S. Selva Priya III EEE welcomed the gathering. A. Priyanka II EEE introduced the resource person to the audience. Dr. M. Sekar, Principal, AAA College of Engineering and Technology delivered the presidential address. Dr. C. Senthil Kumar, Professor and Head, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering delivered the inaugural address. The symposium events were inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Er. T. Muralidharan, AMIE, M.Tech., Executive Engineer, Distribution, TANGEDCO, Virudhunagar. The chief guest shared the overview of the roles and responsibilities of electricity boards in transmitting and distributing power from generation sources to end consumers. He also discussed the significance of renewable energy integration and energy storage solutions in optimizing grid operations and reducing conventional fossil fuels. The guest lecture provided a comprehensive overview of the challenges and opportunities in electricity board transmission and distribution to the students. Technical events such as paper presentation, project presentation, technical debate, circuit debugging, technical quiz and non-technical events like capture it, connection, and spotify were conducted by the students. The winners were awarded with a prize and a certificate. Totally 52 members from various Engineering and Polytechnic Colleges were actively participated in this event. R. Ten Days Certificate Course on “Application of Java Programming” from 29.01.2024
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering conducted a ten days certificate course on ‘Application of Java Programming’ from 29.01.2024 to 08.02.2024. In the view of increasing the placement in the IT sector, this course is arranged for the third year EEE students. Mr. J. Jeejo Vetharaj, Senior Technical Trainer from Silicon Software Services Private Limited, Madurai was the resource person for the programme. Dr. M. Sekar, Principal presided over the inaugural ceremony on 29.01.2024 and advised the students to utilize the course and to develop the programming skills. Also, he nurtured the students to continue the programming practices. The trainer explained the basic concepts of Java Programming such as loops, arrays, OOPs, Inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation and threads during the lecture hours. The trainer conducted hands-on sessions for the students and also conducted online programming tests to evaluate their performance. The certificates were distributed during the valedictory ceremony on 08.02.2024.
National Level Workshop on ‘Developing Internet of Things Projects using ARDUINO and NODE MCU’ on 21.12.2023 & 22.12.2023
The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in association with Centre of IIoT organized a two days National Level Workshop on, ‘DEVELOPING INTERNET OF THINGS PROJECTS USING ARDUINO AND NODE MCU’ on 21.12.2023 & 22.12.2023. The students from Polytechnic and Engineering colleges participated in this workshop. R. Nithyalakshmi of II year EEE welcomed the gathering and V. G Padmpriya of II year EEE introduced the resource person to the audience.
The resource person of the workshop was Mr. M. S. Kalyana Sundaram, M.E., (PhD) Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Mr. P. Vetrivel, M.E., Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, AAA College of Engineering and Technology, Sivakasi. Dr. C. Senthil Kumar, Professor and Head of the Department delivered the presidential address to the participants and briefed the significance of IoT in today’s world. Mr. M. S. Kalyana Sundaram explained the Arduino and Node MCU boards, their features and the importance of interconnected devices and their applications in various industries. Mr. P. Vetrivel covered the fundamentals of coding in IoT using Arduino and Node MCU. He shared the common challenges faced during IoT project development. Hands on training were provided to the participants. This programme served as an eye opening session for the participants. At the end of the session, the resource persons cleared the queries of the students and received feedback from the participants. Dr. C. Senthil Kumar, Professor and Head of the Department distributed the certificates to the participants. R. Nithyalakshmi of II year EEE delivered the vote of thanks. Totally 20 students participated in the programme.
EEE Parents Teacher Meeting on 02.12.2023
The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering conducted a Parents Teachers Meeting on 02.12.2023 (Saturday) from 10.30 a.m to 11.30 a.m at Thomas Alwa Edison Seminar Hall for the II year Electrical and Electronics Engineering students. Dr. C. Senthil Kumar Professor and Head, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering welcomed the parents. During his address, he presented the details about the department facility, faculty members, achievements, internal test result and end semester examination results. Totally 43 parents participated in this meeting and had an interaction with the faculty members regarding the performance of their son/daughter in the academics. At the end of this meeting, parents gave their feedbacks and suggestions for the development of the institution.
Guest Lecture on “Design and Implementation of Micro Grids for Remote Villages” on 25.11.2023
The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a guest lecture, ‘Design and implementation of Micro grids for Remote villages’ on 25.11.2023. The students of the II, III and IV year Electrical and Electronics Engineering participated in the programme. R. Archana of III year EEE welcomed the gathering and S. Selva Priya of III year EEE introduced the resource person to the audience. Dr. C. Senthil Kumar Professor and Head, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering honoured the resource person with a memento and a gift.
The resource person of the guest lecture was Mr. A. Saravana Kumar, M.E., (PhD) Scientist E/Joint Director, Power Electronics Group, CDAC, Thiruvananthapuram. The guest lecture was aimed to bring out a clear cut idea about the micro grid and its significance in modern energy systems and the challenges faced by remote villages in accessing reliable electricity. He shared the knowledge about the components of a micro grid: sensors, meters, automation system and how these components work together to improve efficiency, reliability, and sustainability. He shared the case studies and the successful examples of micro grid implementations in remote areas. The lecture also addressed the challenges faced in implementing micro grids in remote villages. This programme served as an eye opening session for the students. At the end of the session, he cleared the queries of the students and received feedback from the students. S. Selva Priya of III year EEE delivered the vote of thanks. Totally 63 students and 8 faculties attended the programme.
EEE Industrial Visit on 20.11.2023
A one-day industrial visit was arranged on 20.11.2023 to Solar Power Plant, Kurunaikulam and Venus Home Appliances, Tuticorin, for the II Year Electrical and Electronics Engineering students.
In Forenoon Session, students visited Solar Power Plant, Kurunaikulam. In that session, the company person delivered the details of the plant; then, they introduced the step-by-step process of the solar power generation at the plant, from sunlight capture to electricity distribution.
In afternoon session, students visited Venus Home Appliances, Tuticorin. The visit mainly focused on understanding the manufacturing processes of water heaters, ceiling fans from raw materials to finished products. The industry persons explained the overview of the water heater industry, its significance in household and commercial sectors, and its contribution to the overall energy consumption. They described the different types of water heaters available in the market, like tank-based, tankless, heat pump, solar-powered, etc. 54 students with three faculty members accompanied with the visit.
EEE – Department Advisory Committee Meeting on 25.11.2023
The department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering conducted Department Advisory Committee Meeting on 25.11.2023 at Board room, AAACET from 11 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. The Head of the Department presented the list of events conducted in the academic year 2022-2023 and events planned for the current academic year. The external members gave suggestions for the development of students, faculty and the department.
Industrial Visit to Apollo Electrical Service on 20.10.2023
A one-day Industrial Visit was arranged to Apollo Electrical Service, Madanadar Kudiyeruppu, Tirunelveli District, for the IV-year students of Electrical and Electronics Engineering on 20.10.2023. 33 students and three faculty visited the company. The students explored the mechanism of internal parts of Induction Generator, Transformer and Winding arrangements. The visit was informative and useful to the students.

The resource person of the guest lecture was Mr. K. Kumar, M.E., (Ph.D.) Assistant Professor, National Engineering College, Kovilpatti. The guest lecture was aimed at providing insights into the critical role of condition monitoring in ensuring the reliability and safety of the high voltage power systems. He shared the knowledge about the importance of High Voltage Power Systems, challenges in High Voltage Equipment maintenance, role of Condition Monitoring and its techniques. The lecture also addressed the trend towards remote monitoring and its advantages, including reduced human interventions and enhanced safety. EEE Industrial Visit to Anaamalais Toyota on 29.08.2023
A one-day Industrial visit was arranged on 29.08.2023 to Anaamalais Toyota Car Showroom, Amathur, for III Year Electrical and Electronics Engineering students. 45 students, along with five faculty members went for the visit. The visit mainly focused on understanding the working of a hybrid car. It provided valuable insights into hybrid technology, petrol and diesel engines, and the necessity of safety measures for drivers and passengers. It was an excellent opportunity to learn from experts of the automotive industry to gain a deeper understanding of the cars in the market.
