The Department of Mechanical Engineering has organised two days of industrial visits to Cochin, Kerala, for third and final year Mechanical Engineering students on 08/04/2022 and 09/04/2022. A team of 40 students and five faculty members participated in the industrial visit. On the first day of their visit (08/04/2022) students visited Indian oil corporation limited, Cochin. The visit started with a company presentation briefing about the oil refinery and its safety processes, which was then followed by our industry tour. Students acquired detailed knowledge of various refining operations used to produce gasoline, diesel, or other hydrocarbon products. The next day, students visited BH Mammi Iron and Steel Industry, Sea Blue Shipyard, Kerala Archaeological Museum and LuLu Mall in Cochin.

Industrial visit to KAKA Indian Foundry – 23.03.2021
Students of III Year & II Year Mechanical Engineering went for industrial visit to The KAKA Indian Foundry, Thiruthangal on 23.03.2021. The Kaka Indian Foundry was established by Sri. A. Shunmuga Nadar in 1948. Initially the company cater to the needs of match making industry only. Now the company manufacture and supply wide range of castings weighing from 500 grams to 300 kilograms to the industries of Motor pumps & accessories, Valve Body, Agriculture, Rice & Flour mills, Hullers & accessories, Engineering Components, Paper Printing machinery components & accessories, Hand pumps & accessories. This company Manufacture Ductile Iron Castings & Grey Iron Castings according to the customers requirements. Liquid metal production capacity is 1600 tons per annum.

ECE INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO BSNL
Electronics and Communication Engineering department organized an industrial visit to BSNL, Virudhunagar on 22.04.2021 for the II- and III-Year students. District Telecom Centre, Virudhunagar is one of the prime centres of BSNL in the south region of Tamilnadu. BSNL is the only service provider, making focused efforts & planned initiatives to bridge the rural-urban digital divide in ICT sector. BSNL serves its customers with a wide bouquet of telecom services namely Wire line, CDMA mobile, GSM mobile, Internet, Broadband, Carrier service, MPLS-VPN, VSAT, VoIP, IN Services, FTTH, etc. About 40 students visited the BSNL. During the visit BSNL engineers explained the students about the working principles of various Telecom equipment’s and both wired and wireless networks. Students visited the following sections of BSNL’s District Telecom Centre:
- Broadband Technology Section
- Optical Fiber Cable and System Section
- Digital Telephone Exchange – C-Dot Section
- Mobile Communication Section
- Computer Networking and IP Addressing Section
The Industrial visit to BSNL was highly beneficial to the students in understanding the concepts of telecommunication and networking principles. The visit also provided the students with understanding the real time functioning of the telecommunication and networking principles what they have studied in their course works.
Industrial Visit – Civil
The second, third & fourth year Civil Engineering students visited a hospital construction site located near Government Hospital Virudhunagar, on 26th march 2021. The site engineer Mr. Muthu, explained the details of proposed hospital building, importance of soil tests and demonstrated the marking of foundation. The students also visited an independent residential three storeyed building in which the ground floor was constructed purely by stones so that the building remains cool even during the hot summer. The students were also given practice to mark the measurements of building on the site. This visit benefited students as they acquired practical knowledge. III CSE Industrial Visit – 23.08.2019
Industrial visit was carried out at Spectrum Softtech Pvt. Ltd. . on 23rd August, 2019 for Third Year Computer Science students. The main objective behind the visit was to make student aware about how various activities related to marketing, financing and human resource are carried out in company and give them feel of managers as soon as they start there course. I along with 38 students left for visit at 9 a.m. and took about an hour to cover the distance
Mrs. Meena started the session by briefing about the industry requirement from fresh graduate and guided the students to \ some self-learning methods. She introduced the students to the Cloud Computing and also dealt with its intensive use. She also gave them a brief session on the Virtual computers used all over the world. This session was followed by a series of questions and answers.
She introduced Data Analytics and explained in detail about its advantages and its extensive use in today’s world. She explained how the samples of information collected from various sources can be turned into real time data and predictions. She showed some real time examples from the data she had collected to predict the rainfall in a city to help farmers save their money for irrigation. She encouraged the students to work towards their goals and the explained the importance of young minds for the development of the country
