Database management has evolved from a specialized computer application to a central component of a modern computing environment and as a result knowledge about database system has become an essential part of computer science. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering has a well-established Database Systems Laboratory. A database management system (DBMS) is computer application software that provides a way to manage data. The requirement of modern days is to have an automated system that manages, modifies and updates data accurately. This is achieved by a DBMS in robust, correct and non redundant way. Database Systems laboratory aims at practicing and achieving this aim by using various software’s such as SQL, ORACLE, and MS – Access etc. The laboratory is supported by Data centre and all computers in this laboratory are connected to the Data centre via LAN.

The laboratory is well equipped with 32 Thin Client systems, 1 EPSON DOT matrix Printer and an internet facility in an Air Conditioned Environment with 5 KVA power backup facilities.
