The Machine shop is the heart and soul of mechanical engineering branch. Workshop practice is also important since ‘only practice can make the man perfect’. The students will undergo each skill exercises with remembrance, understanding and application with special emphasis on attitude of enquiry to know why and how for the various instructions and practices imparted to them in each shop. The Special Machines Laboratory provides necessary practical hands on training in conventional machine tools. This lab to provide an opportunity for the students to practice on various types of tools, manipulate and control various process parameters during machining processes.
The lab sessions are intended to make the students understand the different machining operations in machine tools such as milling machine, surface grinding machine, cylindrical grinding machine, shaping machine, radial drilling machine, gear hobbing machine, gear shaping machine etc. Students will be provided with a raw workpiece along with the dimensions of the required work to be machined. The lab exercises provide opportunities for direct study of the machine tools and their operations.
