HANDS ON TRAINING ON STAAD PRO
Department of Civil Engineering of AAA College of Engineering and Technology, Sivakasi conducted a three day Hands on Training program for the final year students of Engineering College and Polytechnic College on 25th , 26th and 27th July, 2018. The students of Sree Sowdambiga College of Engineering, Aruppukottai and Arulmigu Kalasalingam Polytechnic College, Krishnankoil attended the programme.
Dr. M. Sekar, Principal, AAA College of Engineering and Technology, inaugurated the program on 25th July 2018, Forenoon. Mr. I.R Ifer Raj, AP/CIVIL, Event Coordinator welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Sofia Rajesh, AP/CIVIL, briefed about the course. A training manual on STAAD Pro was released during the session.
Thiru. G. Jayakumar, AP/CIVIL, Thiru. V. Ragavan, AP/CIVIL, Thiru. M. Ariramachandran, AP/CIVIL were the Course Instructors. Thiru. G. Jayakumar explained STAAD Pro software tools in detail to the participants and taught them how to use the tools in an effective way.
During the course, the Course Instructors taught Analysis of Single storey Building, Multi-storey Building, Overhead Circular Water tank, Steel Truss etc., and gave hands on training on the above exercises.
During the valedictory session held on 27th July 2018 evening, Mr. M. Ariramachandran, AP/CIVIL, welcomed the gathering. Dr. P. Ganesan, Correspondent of the College gave felicitations and awarded the participation certificates. Dr. J. Maheswaran, Professor & HOD, CIVIL, delivered vote of thanks. The participants appreciated the course instructors for their effective coaching given on STAAD Pro and told that the course would be of much useful to them for their final year projects and their career too.
Dr. S. Sevuragan M.Tech (IISc) PhD (IISc) PDF(USA)
Dr. S. Sevugarajan is currently heading the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and the Department of Science and Humanities at AAA College of Engineering and Technology. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in 1995 with Physics as a major subject and completed his Master’s degree in the field of material Science in 1997 at Anna University. In 1997 he joined Indian Institute of Science (IISc) at Bangalore and obtained an additional research master’s degree (MSc[Engg]) in Instrumentation Engineering. After completion of his master’s degree at IISc in 1999, he continued his research work at IISc and obtained his PhD degree in 2005. Immediately after completing his PhD, he was invited to U.S.A to work as a post-doctoral fellow with Dr. Clemmer at Indiana University, USA.His post-Doctoral work was based on split-field drift tube/ion mobility mass spectrometry (IM-MS). In 2006 he joined Vanderbilt University, USA as a research associate. At Vanderbilt University he 1. Designed and developed a Dual-Source Electrospray/MALDI Ion Mobility-Mass Spectrometer (IM-MS) for Biomolecular Structural Characterization. 2. Designed and developed the single and 8-channel ESI source, Drift tube, ion Extraction source and vacuum chambers and their associated electronics and RF power source for IM-MS.3. Designed and developed “A novel multiplexed data acquisition technique that utilizes fast repetition MALDI ionization source to enhance the sensitivity of IM-MS”. During his stay at Vanderbilt University he has also completed a consultancy project in designing the mechanical and Instrumentation setup for ESI Source for Accelerated Mass Spectrometer in Prof. Tannenbaum’s laboratory, MIT, Boston, MA, USA
In 2013 he joined Acharya Institute of Technology as a professor in Electronics and Communication Engineering department. During 2015 he was invited to Florida International University, USA, as a visiting faculty where he worked on the Design and Development of Voice based Greetings/Control System for Tele-Presence Robot (TELEBOT).
He has supervised several masters and undergraduate students. He has published over 30 peer-reviewed research papers in reputed research Journals having very high Impact factors (~15) and book chapters.Dr. S. Sevugarajanis an active member of IEEE. He is a highly energetic, dynamic and self-motivated person. Apart from Academics, he has been contributing lots in Intellectual Property Rights Cell (IP Cell). He has organized several workshops and conferences at both national and international levels.
His research interests include: Design and development of Telepresence Robots, automated unmanned aerial vehicles, Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning techniques for Agriculture and Health care systems and in the design and development of Ion-Mobilty Mass Spectormeters,
PARENTS TEACHERS MEETING 2018
On July 14, 2018 we conducted parents teachers meeting at new block seminar hall by 10 a.m.
More than 500 parents actively participated in this meeting. Heads of the various departments welcomed the gathering. During the meeting, information about the semester results, students’ progress and academic plan were discussed. Parents expressed their suggestions for the development of the institution. During the address by Dr.M.Sekar, Principal presented the future plan of the institution. He assured suggestions given by parents will be considered for implementation.
The parents’ teachers meeting arrangements were well organized by Secretary Dr. P. Karvannan, Correspondent Dr. P. Ganesan, Joint Secretary Er. K. Vignesh Kumar B.E., MBA (UK), PrincipalDr.M. Sekar and faculties.
Digital Journalism
Workshop on “Digital Journalism” & Launch of DIJAI Students Forum
AAA College of Engineering & Technology in association with Digital Journalist Association of India organized a one day workshop on Digital Journalism and launched DIJAI Students Forum on Saturday 24th March 2018. Dr. P. Ganesan, Mg. Director, Vinayaga Sony Fireworks Group, and Correspondent of AAA College of Engineering & Technology presided over the programme. Around 400 students from Virudhunagar District Arts and Science, Engineering and Polytechnic Colleges attended the programme.
Dr. Santhosh Babu IAS, Chairman & MD, Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation and OSD, Chief Ministers Special Cell, Government of Tamil Nadu inaugurated the programme. He enumerated the key factors of success: be a creative thinker; voracious reader; and an effective communicator. He educated the students to resist temptation and lead their lives as leaders.
Ms. Susan Koshy, Editor in Chief, PreSense, and Secretary, DiJAI enlightened the audience on Editing + Importance of brevity, grammar, and language. She explained how meticulous one has to be while drafting the content for digital media. Such a well-organized content needs to be free of grammatical inaccuracy. She quoted that reliability is the strong suit of a writer.
Mr. R Nurullah, a Senior Tamil journalist, and Vice President, DiJAI presented a topic on Writing for Tamil media and ethical practices. The session was fun-filled with the captivating speech of Dinamalar famous Editor of “Tea Kadai Bench”. He made the audience realize how important it is to visualize the target audience and their needs.
Mr. V. Rajendran, Cyber Advocate, and Chairman, Digital Security Association of India (DiSAI) gave a speech on Cyber Law affecting the Journalism. He showed light on the freedom of expression and the cyber laws. He insisted on the inevitable presence of ethics and morality in presenting a digital content.
Mr. Vinoth Poovalingam, CEO, Hocalwire, Delhi (through teleconference) explained Global trends in Digital Journalism. He projected the gradual growth of the history of journalism over the decades. He also pointed out that the Indian internet users are around 438 million and said that there is a great impact in the society by the social media and chat applications.
Ms. Vidyashree Dharmaraj, Editor-in-Chief, Covai Post, Coimbatore (through teleconference) elucidated Challenges in Digital Journalism. She expounded her real-life challenges. Her speech focused on the unpredictable external threats for a journalist.
The technical sessions were succeeded by a Feedback session and an awe-inspiring response from the students.
69th Republic Day
The 69th Republic Day was celebrated in AAA College of Engineering & Technology, Sivakasi. The Correspondent Dr. P. Ganesan hoisted the flag. The Principal Dr. K. Arulmozhi gave a speech on the sacrifices of Indian Army men. The Correspondent gave his Republic Day Address on the significance of Indian Republic. Mr. G. Manikandaraja, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering delivered a speech on the value of using positive words. Selvi R. Gayathri of II ECE gave a speech on Indian Democracy and motivated the students to fight against corruption. Selvi M. Kavimozhi of IV Civil gave a speech on creating a revolution through voting and encouraged the students to bring in a change in India through proper utilization of the right to vote.
Annual Day 2017
AAA College of Engineering & Technology, celebrated its 4th Annual Day on 1st of April 2017, in a grand manner at The Open Air theatre of AAA Campus. Shri. M. RAJA RAJAN SUPERINTENDENT OF POLICE (Virudhunagar district) was the chief guest for the occasion.
The programme started with a prayer song. Dr. P. GANESAN, Correspondent, AAA College of Engineering & Technology, extended a warm welcome to the gathering by giving a welcome address. Shri. P. PANJURAJAN, Chairman, & Dr. P. KARVANNAN, Secretary presided over the function. Dr. ARULMOZHI, Principal, AAA College presented the Annual Report of the College for the academic year 2015-2016.
Finally, there was a cultural programme. In the colourful show, students brought to limelight their creative and artistic talents. Mrs.Gladima Nisha, Assistant Professor proposed a vote of thanks.
Eye camp
Rotary Club of Sivakasi Sparkler in association with Madurai Aravind Eye Hospital organized an Eye Check-up Camp at AAA College of Engineering & Technology on 24th January 2018. Rotaract Club of AAACET rendered its whole support and service. Dr. Anton Gnana Wilfer from Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai examined around 200 members including students, faculty and non-teaching faculty members.
