A team of 27 students from IV year and 2 faculty from Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering visited the High Voltage Engineering Laboratory at National Engineering College, Kovilpatti on 27.09.2022. The visit was very useful to the students and they gained knowledge in Liquid dielectrics, testing of insulating materials and procedures, High voltage AC, High voltage DC and Impulse voltage generation. The students observed the breakdown of insulating materials and flash-over in real time.
Guest Lecture on Power System Restructuring and FACTS Devices on 07.09.2022
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering inaugurated the Association with a Guest Lecture on Power System Restructuring and FACTS Devices on 07.09.2022 (Wednesday) at Thomas Alwa Edison, Seminar hall, AAACET. All students of the EEE Department attended this session. Dr. B. V. Manikandan, Senior Professor / EEE, Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi was the resource person for this programme. During the inauguration ceremony, Mrs. M. Maheswari, Association In-Charge introduced the EEE Association office bearers for the academic year 2022-2023 and Mr. R Vinoth Kumar, Assistant Professor/EEE announced the list of events planned for this academic year. The chief guest shared his knowledge about power system restructure and also gave the importance of FACTS devices. The session was interactive and informative.

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a Guest Lecture on Career Opportunities in the Industrial Automation Sector on 19.09.2022 (Monday) at Thomas Alwa Edison, Seminar hall, AAACET. II and III years EEE students attended this session. Mr. R. Mahendran from Ingenious Power and Control Systems pvt., ltd., Madurai was the resource person for this programme. The programme was an eye-opening session on Programmable Logic Controller and processes of automation using PLC were demonstrated with numerous examples. At the end of this session, career opportunities in the automation sectors were listed by the speaker.
Parents Teachers Meeting on 17.09.2022
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering conducted a Parents-Teachers Meeting on 17.09.2022 (Saturday) at Thomas Alwa Edison, Seminar hall, AAACET. More than 120 parents participated in this meeting and had an interaction with the faculty members regarding their son/daughter. During this meeting, Dr. C. Senthil Kumar, Professor & Head / EEE, presented about the department facilities and achievement to the parents. At the end of this meeting, parents gave feedback as well as suggestions for their children’s growth.
Two Days National Level Technical Symposium on 29.04.2022 & 30.04.2022
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized Two Days National Level Technical Symposium “AMPHEROZ’22” on 29.04.2022 and 30.04.2022. The symposium events were inaugurated by the Chief guest, MR. N. PREMKUMAR, Founder & Managing Director, Promho Engineering Solutions Pvt., Ltd., Chennai. Around 120 participants from various Engineering and Polytechnic colleges were actively participated in this programme. Students organized Technical and non-technical contests for the participants in day1 of the programme. And the day2 is devoted for the workshop on Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning in two different venues. The winners were honored with the prizes and certificates and also participants thanked the department as well as college for giving such a memorable day. In day2, the workshop on Internet of things was conducted by Dr. S. Saravanan, AP / EEE and Mr. M. S. Kalyana Sundaram, AP/ EEE. They gave hands on practice on Node MCU based IoT experiments at Centre of IIoT laboratory, AAACET. Another workshop named ‘Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning’ was conducted by Dr. E. Sivasankar, AP / CSE, National Institute of Technology, Trichy. In this workshop, the participants were exposed with the various machine learning algorithms and they understood the concept of artificial intelligence and its importance in computer vision applications.
Certificate Course on “Machine to Machine Communication using TI Embedded Controllers” on 07.03.2022
Texas Instruments Innovation Laboratory (TIIL) organized 3 days Certificate Course on “Machine to Machine Communication using TI Embedded Controllers” for final year EEE and ECE students from 07/03/2022 to 09/03/2022. The prime focus of this certificate course was to introduce Embedded Evaluation boards by Texas Instruments (TI) for Machine to Machine Communication. Totally 31 students participated and got hands on experience in all the embedded board available in TIIL.
In Day 1 (07/03/2022), participants gained basics knowledge about the embedded systems using TI embedded boards. Specifically they had hands on experience in MSP430G2ET, MSP430F5529 and MSP432P401R LaunchPads. TI Innovation Lab coordinator, Dr. S. Saravanan, AP/EEE briefed about the objectives of this centre. Also, he showcased the hardware peripherals available in Texas Instruments Innovation Laboratory. Coordinator of Centre for IIoT, Mr. M. S. Kalyanasundaram, AP/EEE trained the participants to access the I/O ports in various LaunchPads. Mr. P. Mohanraj, AP/ECE and Mr. G. Jayahari Prabhu, AP/ECE are trained the participants to interface various sensors and actuators with LaunchPads.
In Day 2 (08/03/2022), Mrs. M. Maheswari, AP/EEE introduced the concept of Machine to Machine Communication. The training on RF communication between two machines using 1GHz TI RF booster was given. The concept of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) was clarified. The participants learned to control one machine’s actuators through another machine without human interference.
In Day 3 (09/03/2022), the participants were trained in TI Robotic Systems Learning Kit (RSLK). The TI-RSLK installed with QTR sensor for detecting lines, bump switch for detecting obstacles and motors for rover movement. The participants solved the assignments in line-following robot, Obstacle avoidance robot and swarm robot.
Centre for Virtual Instrumentation Inauguration on 14.03.2022
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering inaugurated centre for Virtual Instrumentation on 14/03/2022. The event started with ribbon cutting ceremony by Dr. P. Ganesan, Correspondent and Dr. K. Vignesh Kumar, Joint Secretary. Dr. C. Senthil Kumar, Professor & Head/EEE welcomed the gathering. Dr. M. Sekar, Principal briefed about the opportunities of LabVIEW in project development and in placements. Mr. R. Satyanarayan, Senior Applications Engineer, VI Solutions, Bangalore delivered a lecture on introduction to LabVIEW and handled training sessions. Dr. S. Sevugarajan, Professor & Head/ECE made all the arrangements for the programme.
